Louis Roederer and Key People

Pronunciation
loo-ee roh-dehr-air. You may hear (and see) loo-ee roh-eh-d'ray or something similar given as a pronunciation, even by native French speakers, but the Roederer name is considered to originate in Germany. It is pronounced with the final 'r' very lightly at the Louis Roederer Champagne House as well as by the family. 'Roh-dehr-air' is the accurate pronunciation.

Type of Producer
Louis Roederer owns vineyards that supply more than 70% of their production needs (more than 500 acres), but they also purchase grapes from other growers. The French regulators designate Louis Roederer as a Negociant Manipulant (a producer who buys grapes from growers).

Overall Producer Style
Tending toward full body. Rich and pure, velvety creamy mousse, subtle to full biscuit notes.

Annual Production
3 million bottles are exported annually around the world. Actual production numbers are unavailable.
