Moet & Chandon and Their Key People

Pronunciation
moe-ett eh shahn-don
Claude Moët was born in France, but the Moët name is considered to be of Dutch origin, so the ‘t’ is not silent. Other pronunciations such as Moe-ay are encountered, but the Moët & Chandon Champagne House and the family make very clear that the 't' must be pronounced.

Type of Producer
Moet has a number of vineyards (more than 2800 acres) for their champagne production but they also purchase grapes from other growers. The French regulators designated Moet & Chandon as a Negociant Manipulant (a producer who buys grapes from growers). See Moet & Chandon History for more information.

Overall Producer Style
Light to Medium body, fresh, fruit driven, pure. Biscuit notes with age.

Annual Production
Over 30 million bottles are produced. Actual production numbers are proprietary.
