Krug Clos D'Ambonnay 1998
Production

Krug uses the méthode champenoise for their champagne production. The Clos D'Ambonnay 1998 is composed of 100% Pinot Noir grapes from a 1.7 acre single vineyard in the grand cru village of Ambonnay. The vineyard was purchased by Krug in 1994. Like other Krug champagnes, grapes from Clos D'Ambonnay are fermented in 205 L old oak barrels during primary fermentation. Krug Clos D'Ambonnay 1998 spent 12 years in the cellar before release.

Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessy purchased Krug in the late 1990s. Administration may have been updated, but wine production and operation still rests with the Krug family. The same level of perfectionism that has trademarked Krug's uniqueness remains in place. Anything that does not fit intro Krug's standard of excellence is consigned to one of the other LVMH holdings.
